University of Silesia in Katowice, founded in 1968, is one of the largest and most dynamically evolving Polish higher education institutions, which offers innovative solutions in the field of education and a friendly space for conducting research. The University educates over 20,000 students at 8 faculties, including Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School.


The University of Silesia is also open to various forms of cooperation with industry and business. It intensively develops its relationships network, actively participates in cluster initiatives, concludes agreements with entrepreneurs and promotes academic entrepreneurship.


The Teaching Factory Competence Center is oriented on providing education and innovation services to the manufacturing industry. The competence center is focuses on enabling the knowledge exchange between the academia and industry and on creating added value for the services and products of manufacturing companies by promoting innovative technology and research activities performed by academia. For this scope, the TF CC provides a set of Learning Services and Innovative Technical Services to their customers aiming to the Interdisciplinary learning, research & experimentation and to exploit of research results towards industrial applicability in pilots.

TF CC Technological Areas have emerged from the needs and challenges of the national manufacturing industry, combined with a set of solutions based on the technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution such as Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Digital Twin and the Internet of Things (IoT).

The Teaching Factory paradigm integrates research (by bringing together novel ideas validated in academic test-beds), education (by learning through practice for students and upskilling practitioners), and innovation aspects (by maturing novel concepts and applying them to industrial environment), creating a Knowledge Triangle essential for boosting National and European competitiveness.

TF CC will bring together industrial actors (factories) and academic actors (classrooms) and facilitate the launch of collaborative manufacturing training projects with mutual business interest for both types of actors.


MDU has campuses in Eskilstuna and Västerås. Around 20 000 students study courses and programmes in Design and Communication, Economics, Healthcare, Education, Engineering, Chamber Music and Opera. At MDU research is carried out in many disciplinary domains to solve problems in society, whereby research in Future Energy and Embedded Systems is internationally prominent.


MDU enjoys a close collaboration with the private and public sectors, which contributes towards the better health of people and a more sustainable planet. The University is located on both sides of Lake Mälaren, with campuses in Eskilstuna and Västerås.

Lviv University of Trade and Economics (LUTE) is one of the oldest trade Universities in Europe - this year the institution turned 206 years old. SPIN-US Ltd. (special purpose company) – is the research and technology commercialisation company of the University of Silesia in Katowice. We provide access to technology, know-how from University researchers through intellectual property licensing, spin-off company formation and material sales, and to academic expertise and technical services. Our main task is to sell results of scientific research and inventions owned by the University of Silesia. We are also open to cooperate with academic staff in terms of establishing new limited liability companies (spin-off, spin-out’s). We assistance in establishing new businesses and providing advisory and support.
